This was not credible to me, until I watched. I am in shock. DO force yourself to watch this, and process as you will the commentary at the end. The comparison that gets repeated these past 2 weeks, and that cuts deepest is that of the mass shooters who are white and are allowed to live. They live because they are deemed to be suffering from a mental illness, and should be treated in an appropriate facility. How very human. No such humanity has ever been extended to us -- it could not have been and kept us in chains, rent our families asunder, strung us up from trees, made it illegal to teach us to read and write, or to teach ourselves to do so, kept us in inferior schools, kept us with a reign of terror from seeking to vote, or to protect our children. Yet we were turned to to fight the battles, to suffer nobly, and not revolt. And then and now, in all of our humanity, as we at long last rise up in righteous anger and take it out on property and not on people (for which they really should be grateful and in places kneeling down in prayer thanking the Lord above that it isnt their throats) there is such shock and indignation and surprise about why and from where does this anger and rage arise. So, YES, YES, watch this clip of yet another murder of a black male. This time, the crime was the theft of two cans of soft drinks while wielding a knife.
