This was our last gig of the Motörhead tour, which has been thoroughly enjoyable as their crew and catering have really looked after us. And Mikkee, Phil, Lem - and the Bosshoss and Skew Siskin too, were all good fun to hang out (ie.. drink) backstage with over the past couple of weeks. In fact Phil Campbell dropped by our dressing room this evening and gave my now p90 clad Epiphone SG a twang - surprising us by playing some pretty nifty rockabilly licks. That Welsh chappie can really play guitar dontcha know - and not just metal either. He was caught letting off stink bombs in the crew bus earlier too - which is always popular in a confined space... especially when theres people asleep therein. Meanwhile Richie, Motorheads incomparable chef was standing at side of stage glugging jack n coke for most of the evening, muttering the odd profanity for good measure no doubt... and around midnight, when we said our goodbyes to Lemmy all assembled decided on the spur of the moment to give snapper and resident pie thief Dod Morrison a quick kicking for sneaking back and scoffing all the desserts in the canteen while wed been onstage (see pic). The Paris audience reaction to us had been unexpectedly good too... considering we were never all that big in France. I put that down to possible confusion as to where we were at exactly musically.... seeing as my infamous rap single Wot! (the exclamation mark IS part of the song title) had been No1 there for 7 weeks back in 1981. They mustve dug the beret.. But my final word on this fabulous, deafening, juggernaut of a rock n roll tour is this.... in a world of disposable celeb culture - where young aspiring musicians watch with despair as copycat karaoke singers gain instant fame on ghastly TV talent shows where IS the next John Lennon... the next Jimi Hendrix... the next LEMMY going to come from???
