This was posted and removed The United States has been around for about 225 years, depending on how you count it. Out of those 225 years slavery was a part of these United States for only about 71 of them, or roughly the life span of one man. Before then slavery was the world norm. ALL MEN were born slaves. All cultures had, if not outright slavery, versions of it, and most still do this very day, including most of Europe. No other country before this one was gifted with that collection of intellects we call our founding fathers who put forth the radical and treasonous concept that you need not show allegiance to a King, Monarch or other such dictator. That your life is your own and with it comes the inalienable right to free speech, private property, the right to bear arms, religious choice, travel, and a limited and balanced government established by the people, and that no man may own another. We did, in fact, end slavery, radically changing those established concepts on this very continent in the space of one life time. Not bad for a bunch of old white guys, hmm? Bob Kendrick, 9/07/2013
