Continuing on my series called Spring Hill: Did you Know? where I will be posting 50 things you might or might not know about our City.. #SpringHillDidYouKnow #49 - Did you know that if you took the number of books sold according to Nielsen BookScan by Spring Hill resident Peter Jenkins (which include: A Walk Across America, The Walk West, Across China, Along the Edge of America, Close Friends, The Untamed Coast and Looking for Alaska, among others) and placed them end to end, they would extend over 500 miles, which happens to be the distance from Spring Hill to New Orleans, the answer to this Jeopardy question that appeared on the show on February 15, 2012. Written in 1979, A Walk Across America chronicled Peters journey from Alfred, New York to New Orleans, Louisiana. His second book, The Walk West tells of the second half of his journey, finishing in Florence, Oregon.
