This was posted by one of our members this morning. Its been a year of Crossfit for her, and a year since weve opened our doors. If you think CrossFit is crazy and dangerous, think again and consider us. If youre just curious about what CrossFit is, consider us. If youre stuck in a rut with your current routine (or lack of one), come in and try a free class. Come see what were all about. Its been just over a year since Mark made me attend a 5:30am workout session at some random building in Glendale. I didnt want to go. I was cursing him the whole way there. He kept saying you should see how it has transformed these Bavarian soccer players. We walk in. We are greeted by four lovely ladies. They make us feel like we are right at home. Helping us understand what some of the weird verbiage on the blackboard means. The warmup was a workout in itself. I quickly learned I was terrible at squatting. Mark was even worse. We laughed, giggling what the hell are we doing here. We went back..even though we could barely move the next day. It was hard because it showed us our weaknesses. Who wants to continually see they are terrible at something. A slap in the face every time. What made us keep coming back? The people. They encourage you that one day you will get it. They push you to go out of your comfort zone. They tell you when your form is off or no rep you for not getting low enough in your squat. We were making the effort to try to get healthy and made friends along the way. It makes us want to head to the box. We had a gym membership for a year that I probably used twice in that time. I feel stronger now than I ever did as a college athlete. I can only imagine how much better I would have been battling girls 6 inches taller than me. Maybe I would not have blew my knee out if I would have known how to properly squat and have the strength in my quads and posterior chain. Now I am more concerned with kipping my toes to bar...which I couldnt even do one a year ago..or even knew what that means. There is always something to get better at. I love CrossFit Groundworks. I love my coaches. I love my box-mates. Thank you all. And thank you Mark for once again making me go outside of my comfort zone.
