This was really interesting. Theres a space in London called the Roundhouse. Its a venue for events, music, whatever. Right now, theres a sound festival going on and theres a collection of interactive music experiences curated by Imogen Heap. The one (badly) pictured here was my favorite. Basically, there were about 100 different musicians/sounds that were recorded video/audio riffing on the same tempo. You (the player) could select a combination of six of the sounds/clips that would loop together creating a unique sound. It was like being Moby, basically. There were three tablets you used to select the clips, each one featuring two categories. In this way, you could have three people playing at the same time, assembling amazing and constantly shifting music assemblages. There were several other installations around the building. What a delightway experience it was to travel around the space interacting with the place, the people, and the music. Made me think more about installation of play and the untapped potential for all of our public spaces to be canvases for interaction and collaboration.
