This was sent to a local newspaper by a friend, a retired employee from ADT: This is a letter from me published in 6/24 PB Post. It refers to a writer complaining about gays in the boy scouts. What century is Jimmy Shirley living in? When he makes the statement “What I don’t get is why people would want to force their way into where they are not wanted” he show a complete ignorance of the human condition. The history of this country, indeed the whole world is a testament to people forging against the establishment that attempts to keep the status quo. People have the right and sometimes even the duty to stand up to the establishment and demand entry. What a sad world this would be if we all accepted the limits put on us in the elite class. I wonder if Mr. Shirley was born with a silver spoon in his mouth or at some point did his ancestors have to breach the system to move up in the world. I say bless those that have the courage to stand up against the Shirley’s of the world that would hold them back because their religion, color, origin or life choice. Shame on you Mr. Shirley. I’m sure you think of yourself as a patriot but you reveal yourself as a bigot who refuses to accept the basic premise that all men are created equal.
