This was sent to me and I wanted to get everyones opinion. This is from the comment section of an article that was written in a very Pro Big Ben fashion. Some fans are not so sold on our fearless leader. Read this and give us your opinion: One cant ignore the facts that Roethlisberger is every bit as likely to float a deep ball than zip it, has never thrown a receiver open, still stares down and holds WR SCREENS (unthinkable) never gets through his progressions before abandoning the pocket, telegraphs long out passes so much we simply cant call them anymore, throws late across the middle (HS QB 101), runs directly into sacks because he forgets/ignores his protections, gets strip sacked because he doesnt protect the ball in the pocket and best of all holds the pig twice as long as even the worst QBs in the NFL. The point that BB hasnt beaten a good team in 3 years is dead on. I have a theory about that. But lets face facts, he hasnt beaten Oakland in 3 years...hes been losing to a lot of awful teams the last two seasons. Its an ugly combination of a QB playing sandlot ball, being uncoachable and at the same time having his character exposed. The sad fact is, since he was exposed as a bad guy off the field in 2010, the big games are too big for him. He plays small against good teams, digs usan unrecoverable hole and then piles up stats when the opponent softens up. He tries to say what he thinks the media will gobble up (as did Ron Cook) as leadership. And hes even willing to do whatever it takes to stay here (hurrah), which is mighty white of him after the Rooneys were kind enough to keep from tossing him where he belonged (the scrap heap) in 2010. So Ron can prattle on about his man crush and how he deserves a big extension. But the record speaks for itself. My hope is the Rooneys return to fiscal sanity and let this deal expire so Ben can back up the truck to another franchise. Those same franchises that solved his sandlot game 4 years ago and know better than overpay a QB whose only improvement the last 5 years has been his opinion of himself. This is not a QB who stands up to the test of time. Hes not a Brady, Manning, Rodgers or Brees ...those guys improve fundamentally every year. They dont parrot their love for a bunch of pluggers who cant play dead in a western. They dont say their goal is to win one more than Terry. They dont talk big and play small. They dont talk. Ben does. Because he hasnt been playing all that well since 2009.
