This was shared with me a short time ago from Erin, a daughter that lost her father in a terrible accident. Her familys story of their interaction with the current coroner and his staff is appalling and disgusting. Please take a few moments to read her story. ******************************** With the upcoming election, I thought it would be important to put my story out there. For all of those who know me, I lost my father in a traumatic accident in 2012. Nobody knows exactly what happened that day. My father went out to cut the grass on his farm tractor with a pull behind brush hog. A couple hours later my mom went out to see my dad and found my father lying in the field. There was a wrecked tree. He was found approximately 30 feet from the tree. The tractor was approximately 50 yards from his body. When the deputy coroner arrived 4 HOURS LATER, he immediately released my fathers body. He informed my family that my father had died from natural causes. Now it doesnt take a genius to figure out that this was an accident scene. You cannot determine a cause of death simply by finding a body in a field. I informed the coroner that we wanted a private autopsy. After there were multiple requests by my family to do a private autopsy and multiple times being told by the corner that my father died of natural causes, he reluctantly agreed to do an autopsy. He then let my family go down to see our father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Immediately upon seeing my father, we realized indeed my father did not die of natural causes he died from a traumatic accident. There were obvious visual injuries to our untrained eyes. Now I dont know how many of you know anything about life insurance policies, but when there is an accidental death you stand to collect a double indemnity. The incompetence of this coroner would have caused our family to not receive this had my father had a life insurance policy. It also would have caused our family to believe that my father died of a sudden, possibly hereditary event that would be an important fact for anyone’s family medical history to be aware of. Let me also tell everybody, it was not any of our jobs to do the corners investigation and none of us have the requirements or education behind us to do so either. Had it not been for my family and police officers being insistent on a private of autopsy and noticing the outright obvious injuries my father sustained, we would have been left under false pretenses that my father died of natural causes and had he had a life insurance policy, left us in a financial loss . I wish I could say this was the end of my story but again the incompetence of the County coroners office leads me to tell you more. The autopsy report showed my father died from blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen. We were livid in with the corners laxidasical and tunnel visioned approach. We then decided that the county coroner Kenneth Bacha needed to be aware of our story. When our story was told to him, he assured us that a full investigation was going to take place. He took all the information such as family members phone numbers and addresses, the prehospital services and police departments that were on scene, and he would be mailing out papers for us to write our statements. He failed to do so. About 6 months later I notified the county commissioner. I asked that I not be contacted by the county coroner due to our families disappointment in his untruthful words, his incompetence, and our families emotional upset over his laxidasical and unempathetic approach. Well he did the exact opposite. He called and left a message asking me what the problem was, that he had SPOKEN with the deputy coroner about how he can better handle his approach. Are you kidding me? If I did my job that way, I wouldnt have a job. So now I ask all of you, who are you voting for? My VOTE is going to F. Christopher OLeath for Westmoreland County Coroner. He is experienced, involved in the community as a whole , has the communities best interest at heart, will address any issues or concerns you currently have , is interested in death prevention, true to his word , competent, compassionate, empathetic, and sympathetic. I guarantee you; he knows how to do the job and will see to it that those on his team do as well. PLEASE SHARE MY STORY! My father taught me many things. But the things that stand out today are to always stand up for what you believe in and let your voice be heard, let people know when someone is incompetent, has wronged you, or wronged the community. Our community has been wronged! This probably isnt the first time, nor would be the last as long as were under the same county coroner. This ones for you Dad! I hope youre proud! Rest in peace! AGAIN, PLEASE SHARE MY STORY ON YOUR OWN TIMELINE!
