This was so hard to watch, for I have been in these parents foot steps. My son Douglas Michael Ducote Jr. was born with a Deletion of the Proximal Short Arm of Chromosome #8, hypogonadism, and he also had a bilateral cleft lip and palate just as this child did. We were told he would not live more than a few days, after two weeks in the hospital they allowed us to bring him home to die just as these parents did. For reasons I will never know my son lived, theirs did not. Although my son Michael has been plagued with many health and physical issues, God has allowed him to keep going, he will be 25 next month. I have always treasured each and every day of my sons life, and I can only pray he outlives me.
