This was taken on Boxing Day, in Agassiz, BC, while I was awaiting the Fraser Valley Hunt to come to the water obstacle. It was very peaceful with various trumpeter swans trumpeting as they flew overhead to meet their friends. Bald eagles flying overhead and landing on the spars surrounding the small river. The leavings of coyotes in the marsh beside us. A clear as glass river flowing silently in front of us as the rain debated whether or not to come. Chatter from the Hunt followers/chasers as they revisited old hunts and got caught up with friends while awaiting the scent (a woman on horseback laying a trail for the hounds) to make an appearance. Into it all, a drake Bofflehead with a harem of females skimmed by, wingtips barely touching the water. They landed for a few moments, then realized they were being watched by a rather large Bald Eagle so they decided to depart. This is a capture from their departure. (Oh, and rubber boots are handy when walking in the marsh...I should have put them on as my feet were soaking wet by the time the Hunt came through :-) )
