This was the first song I wrote that was over 4 minutes long. By the time I recorded and performed this song on 8-16-12, I extended the song by nearly double that. I picked the number “nine” because of John Lennon’s “Revolution 9” since it was a number he liked. I wanted the solo to resemble a little bit of The Doors and CCR. For this recording, I used two microphones to record the snare (one on top and one on bottom) and used two bass microphones to record the kick drums, one in front and one in back. It actually helped make the bass sound a bit deeper after I recorded it. I also used a few different amps (a 50 watt Vox and a 40 watt Fender Deluxe) with a boss GT-8 and Vox pedal. This song was also based off CCR’s “Graveyard Train” where I hardly deviated from the main riff. I changed it up only once just for the sake of doing so. The words were also meant to be a bit vague and open for interpretation. Alike “Graveyard Train” this song didn’t have a bridge or chorus. This is song #43. TRANSIT 9 I’M STANDIN’ ON INTERSTATE 5. I SHOULD BE WALKIN’ BUT IT’S BETTER TO DRIVE. WALKIN’ UP THOSE LONG, DARK STAIRS, WAITIN’ FOR HER TO PAY THE FARES. RIDIN’ DOWN THE LONG, DARK ROAD, YOU’RE CARRYIN’ AN OVER-SIZED LOAD. I’M CRYIN’ BUT I’M FEELIN’ BETTER, ‘CAUSE I NEVER SENT THAT COLD-HEARTED LETTER. I’M SITTIN’ HERE DRINKIN’ SOME WINE. I’M THINKIN’ EVERYTHIN’ IS JUST FINE. HERE I’M GOIN’ DOWN THE LINE, RIDIN’ HOME ON TRANSIT 9. (SOLO) EVERYTHIN’ IS GOIN’ JUST GREAT, EXCEPT MY TIME WHICH IS TOO LATE. I’LL BE DRIVIN’ THE BIG, GREEN CAR. I DON’T HAVE GAS AND I WON’T GET FAR. SEEIN’ ME COMIN’ DOWN THE STREET, YOU’LL ALL GO DOWN AND BEG AT MY FEET. I’M SITTIN’ HERE LOSIN’ MY TIME. I’M SITTIN’ HERE WRITIN’ MY SIGN. HERE I’M GOIN’ DOWN THAT LINE, RIDIN’ HOME ON TRANSIT 9. (SOLO) EVERYTHIN’S GOIN’ JUST FINE. I’M GOIN’ HOME ON TRANSIT 9. Written and performed by Wayde K.
