This was the first thing on my timeline when I returned home this morning. If someone wishes for good health, one must first ask oneself if he is ready to do away with the reasons for his illness. Only then is it possible to help him. ~ Hippocrates I felt a VERY strong pull to share it, as well as these thoughts: There are many reasons we attract things like illness into our life experience. It often has nothing to do with our spiritual purpose, but fulfills other needs. In my experience, it is not the pushing away that ends the relationship with a belief; it is the embracing of the benefits of that belief. When I do this work for myself or with my clients, the focus is on how something we want to be rid of in life has actually served us in some way. A personal example from my life - when I checked into how my food sensitivities had served me, I found that they gave me permission to feel special (HUGE no-no in family of origin,) forced me to ask for what I needed even though it inconvenienced someone else (How DARE you???) and supported me in setting boundaries (Boundaries? Ill give you Boundaries!) Its been a long process. Am I ready to do away with the reasons for my food sensitivities? The honest answer is that Im not sure. Further examination is in order. Its a lot easier for me to feel special because I have come to realize that each one of us is really quite special and unique. I am not as uptight about inconveniencing others, because I have developed a greater understanding that when I do what is right for me, it allows others (even gives them the opportunity!) to do what is right for them. I am a million times better with boundaries than I used to be, but I still struggle with people-pleasing in certain situations. I guess the real question is, Do I need food sensitivities to help me continue to grow in these areas? Nope. I am conscious and aware and no longer need an excuse to ask for what I want, say no, and be who I really am. I offer this in hopes it helps someone who is struggling with a physical issue that is of spiritual or emotional origin. If you find benefit in it, would you please share in the comments? We never know who will benefit from our experience.
