This was the message I received at 10:00 AM this morning from my Aday in the Philippines. Since the Typhoon had hit on Friday last week we had no idea if her parents had survived. Her cousin Janelle and my godchild Ivy who is only four months are still missing. Her brother Gladwin left on Sunday morning to help find them. “Still no word. But Im still hoping theyre okay. Last I heard was Gladwin and company were part of a military convoy from Baybay pier to Dulag. Its an answer to prayer. Its not safe to travel anymore especially if you have food. People are so desperate and hungry that they will resort to violence. Its very sad and frustrating. Please pray harder for us.” I just received this message and am so happy that her parents survived. There is still no word about Janelle or the baby. “Finally some good news! My parents survived the super typhoon! They made it by staying on the roof of my uncle’s two-story house. Our house was washed out. I wasnt surprised anymore as they say 90 percent of the houses in our town were destroyed. Got the news from relatives whose neighbors are family of our neighbors in Dulag. Still has to hear from Gladwin though. I’m hoping he and cousin Judy arrived safely with the relief goods intact. Help is really slow and the people are hungry and thirsty.” “Thank you so much for your prayers. I know the future would be challenging for us. I can’t stop crying while typing this… so much suffering of my people.” Please pray for the people of the Philippines. It is beyond my imagination what they are facing. Photos are of Gladwin, Aday and Baby Ivy. The second photo is of Aday standing in the flood water in her apartment in Manilla.
