This was very brilliant in fairness, One minute your watching tv only to recognize the voice of a nice man who stood up in the audience and openly expressed his views about RTE. Priceless :-) A nice explanation from Mark Egan as to why he done what he did.. Just home, suppose I best explain meself to the island I was given an opportunity and I took it. I saw my chance to hopefully give a bit of hope to people watching the tripe RTE/Pravda broadcast. Near chickened out of it, but I thought and saw in my minds eye people huddled together on the sofa, no heating and no dinner asto save the food for breakfast, Thought of people who are at their end and left with nothing, not even hope! Thought of the likes of Kenny and his cabinet sitting back with a full gut, fire blazing supping spirits without a care in the world. Also thought of the lies RTE have broadcasted, that everything is grand in dear oul Ireland and not to be worrying about anything, the big boys are sorting out out. The pure drivel Ive seen that passes as the current affairs department in the national broadcaster would pass for what Pravda stuck up all over the USSR! Does it broadcast the young queueing up in the airports to get off this island? The last moments of a person driven to suicide? Families panicking about how to afford the basics ontop of Christmas and Santy? The unemployed demoralized and left feeling attacked? The working poor who work all the hours God sends yet left without a shilling? The crisis in hospitals, including me local that is sending people away this weekend? The OAPs halfing their pills? The school children that depend on breakfast and after school clubs for feeding? The countless souls left sleeping on the streets yet thousands of Nama homes that could be used as council housing stock? The special needs boy and his cousin left traumatized after Wednesdays attack from the garda? Does it broadcast anything about the daily fight to survive for the majority of people? NO! It doesnt! Its the mouthpiece for the government parties, whod have you believe that its only you thats suffering in Endas Eireann and to suck it up! Well Im sorry but it has a responsibility to report the truth of the effects of government policy, for better or worse! Enda and his cabinet may refuse to listen to the people who elected himself and his party, along with Joannys Roses, fine by me, just means any government building and organization is fair game to protest at/in/against from now on And to anyone wanting to act but prevented due to fear dont let anything stop ya, your life and your future is being messed around with by people no better then you or me? Only you can change it! Still got 2 tickets for a day out around Dublin for me troubles, any dark and handsome lad fancy a days courting on RTE pm me yeh Still cant believe I got dragged out, ah well Markie has the fire back in his blood God Save Ireland!! Glory to the four green fields!!
