This week Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe visited the site of Werowocomoco following reports that President Barack Obama had included a budget request to add the site to the National Park Service. Incorporating Werowocomoco into the NPS would be a double boon, benefiting both Virginia tourism as well as scholarship, according to Martin Gallivan, the William & Mary archaeologist who led the excavation of the ancient site.
