This week I helped the House pass the Vector–Borne Disease Research Accountability and Transparency Act, which adds tick-borne diseases like Lyme disease to the list of conditions tracked and researched by the Health and Human Services Department. This bill recognizes the spread of Lyme disease as a public health concern – an important achievement for Northeastern Minnesota, where the risk of contracting Lyme disease is significantly higher and rapidly growing.
