This week I took part in a blindfolded guide dog walk in Central - TopicsExpress

This week I took part in a blindfolded guide dog walk in Central Brighton, and I have shared some photos for you all to see! Firstly, I would like to thank the The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (UK) for helping to arrange this, and for making me aware of the many obstacles and difficulties that those with visual impairments can face when walking around the city. I found the guided walk both fascinating, and thoroughly challenging. It gave me a real appreciation of some of the issues blind and partially-sighted people face on a daily basis. Not only was it strange putting my complete faith in one of their (expertly trained) dogs, but navigating the multitude of obstacles on our pavements, which I would usually not even really notice, was perhaps the most challenging aspect. Thank you again to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association for giving me this enlightening experience! I would encourage everyone to read about the work of the charity, and to take any opportunity that they can to hear their stories and become more aware of the challenges faced by blind and partially-sighted people each day.
