This week I watched Muppets most wanted a second time. Overall I think it is a solid follow up to the previous movie the Muppets. Even though I am a big movie fan I rarely watch movies in the theater more than once. I did see The muppets twice and before that saw Watchmen three times. Usually if I like a movie I saw in the theater enough for repeat viewings I watch it via TV, DVD, blu-ray, streaming (Netflix, Amazon instant, etc). Also having grown up with this property I am happy to support it and hope it still there in the future for future generations to enjoy. This is also a special, unique and more whoelsome/retro style entertainment that you dont see as much of lately really in any entertainment medium. I think those like me who really liked the muppets might feel a little let down. Since the music and musical numbers are not as good, the cameos overall are weaker and the plot could have used a stronger script since there things like Walter seems to be in the movie mostly just to break Kermit out of jail near the end and Nadia played by Tina Fey has a crush on a Kermit that in my opinion the movie fails to deliver payoff on. Also the movie doesnt quite have the same passion behind it as last time. Watching it a second time though I felt more forgiving of some of these shortcomings and feel the movie still has positive things about. The music is still well done and there are some musical numbers/songs I will probably want to revisit like the big house gulag number and the were doing a sequel song. The cameos are still fun and entertaining since they include SPOILER ALERT Rob Corrdry, James Mcavoy, Chloe Moretz, Salma Hayak, Sasha Ronan, Lady Gaga, Sean Combs, Christoph Waltz, Zach Galifanakis (back as Hobo Joe), Ray Liotta, Jermaine Clement, Danny Trejo, Stanley Tucchi, Tom Hiddleston, Usher, Celine Dion and more. Constantine is pretty entertaining as a nefarious criminal version of Kermit and I enjoyed number 2 played by Ricky Gervais being tired of being number 2. I also enjoyed the whole interpool/Same the Eagle buddy cop dynamic that is part of the movies plot. The movie is also funny and does have some emotional and touching moments and is one a wide range of audiences can enjoy. I think and hope with home video sales the movie will probably be successful financially. Last I hope with any potential future Muppets movies Jason Seagal is involved in some creative position (writer, producer, etc), I dont mind if theres more distance between releases because it doesnt ruin it but I do feel it makes the movie feel a little rushed and Steve Martin needs to do a cameo. He was visually referenced in the Muppets but if this continues to be a new series since he was in the original Muppet movie he should be in the current ones at some point.
