This week Spartans for Israel and Hillel of Silicon Valley hosted StandwithUs and two Israeli Soldiers to speak to the students about their experiences in the IDF. The event was attended students, members of the community, and by members of the Muslim Student Association #MSA from #DeAnza and #SJSU. In the middle of the event the students got up and left the room, despite invitations by the soldiers to stay for a meaningful discussion. We came pretty far to have a dialogue and thats the only way that peace will come one of the soldiers shouted, which was met with stop killing children! by one of the students walking out. As we enter Shabbat we pray, like we always do, for peace in Israel and in the Middle East, but we know it is a long way off because of events like this, where people arent even willing to speak about it. Shabbat Shalom.
