This week TYGA FM - Soundscapes, with Martin Bennett will feature the soundtrack album for the 2012 western “Lawless”, featuring songs of the film’s original scores composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. The two formed a band named The Bootleggers for this project, and the soundtrack also features collaborations with artists like Mark Lenegan, Ralph Stanley and Emmylou Harris. The album also includes a previously unreleased song by Willie Nelson. The film Lawless is a 2012 American crime drama directed by John Hillcoat. The screenplay by Nick Cave is based on the historical novel The Wettest County in the World (2008) by Matt Bondurant. The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, and Guy Pearce. Lawless explores the actions of 3 brothers: Forrest, Howard & Jack Bondurant, who made & sold moonshine in Franklin County, Virginia, during Prohibition. The film was in development for about 3 years before it was produced. It screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival & was theatrically released on August 29, 2012.
