This week a group of Barazzuols met for lunch at the Pink Pearl with Strathcona Historian James Johnstone and our friend from Italy, Nicola Moruzzi. It was a chance to share some stories about our familes, and also learn some more about a film that Nicola is putting together based on a box of love letters that he discovered from his great-grandfather Angelo Conte. Its an immigrants 30-month tale of leaving his pregnant wife in Norther Italy, travelling to Vancouver and settling in Strathcona where he shared a house with my great-grandfather Antonio Barazzuol on Prior St (thanks for connecting the dots James!), to Revelstoke where he met a tragic fate in 1915, never to see his family again. It would be 100 years before someone from Italy would visit his grave. Its a fascinating tale of love and fate and divergent paths. The film, titled Revelstoke will follow Nicola in retracing the steps of his great-grandfather and how his journey affected lives and fates across generations. It promises to be a beautiful film by some amazing people...plese support their fundraiser if you can and share it if youre inspired by this labour of love! cc Frank Barazzuol, Bill Barazzuol, Irene Vecchio, Virginia Louise, John Barazzuol, Richard Barazzuol
