This week has been a struggle for me : first yesterday was two years since I lost my mom to the battle of cancer, and I really dont believe time makes it easier. Today my 98 year old grandma who I am lucky to see daily cause she is a resident where I work becomes ill .Whats difficult with this decision is that my grandma is alert oriented and basically has a good memory.Today she is ill with abnormal labs needs IVs and should go to the hospital, but in the last 2 years she has told me multiple times please dont send me back to the hospital anymore if Im Ill treat me hereI tried to explain that we may not be able to treat her as aggressive as hospital and she would say what do u want me to do?and Id say I want to honor what you want well the decision was made to keep her and treat with IM antibiotics. Noone knows what a difficult decision that is to make when you want to be selfish and try to keep her around for yourself .And I know what ever happens my grandma has had a blessed life and I honored her wishes :-)
