This week has been an emotional rollercoaster with the highs of Christmas celebrations and the lows of losing two church members--one of our elders to a quick and aggressive form of cancer and one of our trustees who died very unexpectedly in her sleep Saturday night. Needless to say, morning worship at Bluegrass United Church of Christ was very heavy yesterday. Later that evening, the church gave me an amazing Christmas gift ... One that I didnt plan, didnt do anything but show up (which is very unusual for me who normally plans every service from start to finish). Members of our church gifted me with their talents and their presence and I cant say how meaningful it was. Today, I will begin preparing for my 4th funeral since October--all 4 of which were unexpected deaths. The emotional weight is heavy but lightened by the amazing, loving, authentic church family for which I am lucky enough to pastor. If you yearn for a faith community that feels like home, check us out. It is indeed a special place and you will be fully embraced and welcomed no matter who you are or where you are on lifes journey. Go to our Facebook page (bluegrass United church of Christ) to see snippets of videos from last nights service and then visit our web site at bluegrassucc--I share this not because they have a good preacher 😉 but because I have seen and experienced first hand an extremely diverse faith community form a very close and loving family and I know people are yearning for such a place. Thank you church !!
