This week has been so overwhelming it is impossible to know what to say. The week began as normal on Monday morning but 4.30 came and our whole world changed. We lost a wonderful man who we loved so much and will miss him with all our hearts. He was a wonderful Husband to my mother, the best Dad that anyone could wish for, a fantastic Grandad to his six grandchildren, a great brother, uncle and friend to all. He was a gentle, kind man and we loved him dearly. We know he is no longer in pain or suffering now and this is a comfort to us although we still wish he could have stayed a while longer. This week we have seen such kindness also and we hope that some way, somehow we will one day be able to repay the people who have shown us such kindness. People came with food and drink, held us when we needed it, washed ware, made sandwiches, brought baking, prepared the house for Dad to spend his last night at home so as to fulfil his final wish, sent messages of support etc. Many people came long distances to say their final farewell to Dad and it meant so much to us all. The kindness shown to us will never be forgotten and is so much appreciated by us all. Dad loved Ballinascarthy where he came from and especially Ballinascarthy GAA. He would have been so delighted that the flag was draped over his coffin and a guard of honour by the club took him from the funeral home to the church. For those who organised this thank you so so much. All we can say is a huge THANK YOU to everyone we are forever in your debt. R.I.P Dad. Sleep with the angels, say hi to all up in Heaven who we love and miss and enjoy meeting them all again I know there will be a good chat going on with many many people. Night now Dad love you always xxx
