This week in our Advanced Camp for Samurai Intermediate and above - TopicsExpress

This week in our Advanced Camp for Samurai Intermediate and above students, we dedicated 2 days to study the art of Capoeira, a Brazilian (via Africa) martial art that combines martial arts movements with elements of dance and music. There are a few different types of Capoeira, and we were focused on the style known as Capoeira Angola which is more focused on the music and movement more than sparring. We brought in Etienne Xolani of the Whole Life Learning Center, who we first met at last years Global Youth Peace Summit put on by the Amala Foundation. Not only did we learn the basic moves of Capoeira Angola, which are acrobatic in nature, but we all got a chance to learn and play the primary instruments used in the art. This video, shot by Sensei Jonathan Hewitt, gives you just a tiny glimpse into what we learned these 2 days! We all had an amazing experience. youtu.be/HSZ0fc1IhD0
