This week is a turning point in my life On July 31, I will walk out of my office for the last time as the Executive Pastor of Rancho Community Church. For nearly a decade I have had the privilege of serving my church. This has been a life transforming experience for our entire family and it has been a joy to serve our church. Through the years I have been on an adventure serving with an amazing team of pastors who lead out of passion and a love for the church. My life has been profoundly shaped by leading this team and I am indebted for their hard work and love for the Gospel. The road ahead….. For several years now, there have been two dreams swirling around our family discussions….one has been, shifting to bi-vocational ministry life and the second, the possibility of relocating to Bend, Oregon. Through the orchestration of God’s timing, Alma and I are very excited to have the opportunity to join a thriving church plant in Bend, Oregon called – “Journey Church.” Journey is a relatively new plant that in the last year has grown dramatically. I will be serving as the Connections/Small Groups pastor part-time. We’re also excited to be joined in this move with our daughter, Julissa her husband, Landen, and their two children, Ezekiel and soon to be born – baby Lydon. Landen and I will be opening our second Commercial Insurance Office in Bend, with our current team still servicing and selling from our Temecula office. In late August, Alma and I are flying up to Bend to be formally introduced to the Journey Church family. We look forward to relocating our families to Bend in mid-October. When you “hand off” your ministry to others it’s a lot like passing a baton in a race. As I have reflected on that reality, I am reminded that in a relay race the first runner never crosses the finish line personally, but the work he did in the first leg helped win the prize that all of the team will share in. That is my heart for my church. Blessings to you all as you continue in the race…….finish well.
