This week is micas birthday (Aug 31) and he is why I am sharing my fitness journey: My rock bottom happened in 2011 with a series of losses and events. First, my step brother, Mica, ruptured his aorta at the age of 40. He smoked, survived on fast foods and had no health benefits due to his job. So he had uncontrolled hypertension but couldnt afford to treat it. He went to the ER: dissected his entire aorta and both carotid arteries. He was in a coma and my family had to finally unplug him from life support. It was a shock to the entire family. I packed his entire house and planned the funeral. 2 mos later my MOM died at age of 62. She basically suffocated from COPD/ smoking and sedentary lifestyle.... She couldnt breath so she couldnt move and died way earlier than she should have. It was the worst way to watch someone pass. At this point I was a wreck...I knew I had to start exercising to keep from falling into a big depression.... Then the unexpected: my step dad lands in ICU with sepsis/ Ecoli and almost died. His kidney transplant was failing... My entire world felt like it was caving in. I had to take over POA for step dad and all the financial affairs for the family estate. At the time I was in a relationship and lived with my BF in Oregon city. We were happy but all this was very straining on the relationship. Two mos later, his nephew passed away at the age of 16 from a pulmonary embolus and complications from diabetes..... I think everyone was in a state of shock The unimaginable amt of losses seemed SO overwhelming. Once the dust settled and I had affairs in order for everyone else, I was finally able to grieve. Thats when I discovered my BF had been stealing from me. I was forced to abruptly move in with friends and pack my entire belongings into a pod...... My friends daughter ( Kiana Hannah) was doing challenge grps I was living (with her mother) friends (Kim and Randy Patterson) who suggested I jump on board with a Beachbody challenge group. So At 430 am I got up And did turbo fire. At 5am Kimi would join for les mills pump. We were seriously killing it! It was hard but I knew I could not let myself go. The reason everyone passed away was lack of movement... and not taking care of themselves ALL VERY PREVENTABLE! By week 2-3, I started seeing results. I felt really good. It helped me sleep, helped me gain my appetite back. For 90 days this went on.... Now, I should have really been in a padded room somewhere on antidepressants but I wasnt. I went to church and focused on my faith to heal and participated in challenge groups.... BEACHBODY helped SAVE MY LIFE and I truly believe this~ Looking back three years, this was my failing forward moment that called me to step out of my comfort zone... It has become my passion to help others see alternatives in doing things in a healthier way To prevent serious illness before they get to me (in the hospital) and change those poor eating patterns that lead to debilitating diseases.... I will never forget the impact of that time in my life, but its how you choose to react that can make all the difference. Fitness and eating clean has become my lifestyle. I chose to take what Ive been learning and pay it forward to help others see their full potential So for those who need to make a change Or If you think you are ready for some accountability Give me a shout out~ I would love to plug you into a group of clean eating and Beachbody exercise program
