This week marks 25 years since all federal parties did something rare – they banded together behind a motion to wipe out child poverty in Canada by the year 2000. A generation later, that deadline has long since passed. But incredibly, today the same number of children – nearly a million – are still poor. A million poor kids in Canada living in places like Surrey, BC, Toronto and Saint John, NB. 16x9’s Carolyn Jarvis talks to the most vulnerable kids about what it’s like to go hungry in a land of plenty. Generation Poor airs Saturday at 7pm.
