This week seemed so very far off last year when I first began - TopicsExpress

This week seemed so very far off last year when I first began planning an event that has taken on a whole life of its own. I spent countless hours in the studio, attended many performances by the artist that would soon be performing on one of the three nights and never once thought that my mother would not be here to celebrate in my new journey. Life happens and you keep on moving, you keep on hoping, you keep on dreaming, you keep on praying and you Keep On Trying (shameless plug for the last cut on my CD). I have learned much about myself, my dreams, my goals, my friends and my family while traveling down this road leading from 59 to 60. Many times I thought it was too much, too late and why should I expect people to be supportive and happy for this Late Bloomer called Nathan Townsend. As I continue to check the many emails, text messages and in box messages here I continue to be encouraged, to be inspired and to know that I am showing someone that it is never, never too late to reinvent yourself, to go after that dream and to realize your destiny. The fifties were not always so kind to me, I lost my job for the first time in my life at 51, I almost lost my life after spending forty days in the hospital at 52, I had to learn how to walk and talk all over again at 53, I started volunteering for an agency at 54 that now 6 years later I am gainfully employed. I went to the White House for the first time at 55 and at 56 I was sent as an ambassador to the International AIDS Conference. At 57 I lost my sister Lenda Townsend who was my heart, my soul and my best friend. At 58 I became a published author through GILEAD Sciences and was promoted for the third time at a job I started through volunteering. At 59 my whole world was turned upside down on one stormy night in January when my mother took her final breath. So I hope you understand that on this Friday as I produce My Time Has Come..I will be stepping up, standing up, acting up and showing off because...Life is meant to be lived.
