This week someone asked me, why on earth would you serve a mission? I havent been able to stop thinking about it. So welcome to some of my thoughts on why I would serve a mission... As missionaries we leave our family, education, career, friends, relationships, and all other pursuits at home for 18-24 months. We are not paid to be missionaries. We pay our own way to be missionaries. Most of us work and save money to pay for our mission and our families too sacrifice to support us. We can call home twice a year and communicate with our families once a week by email or letter. We devote every day to preaching the gospel and helping those we meet. Now I ask you, if we didnt believe with all our hearts what we preach, why would we be missionaries? Knowing what my Savior did for me, knowing He suffered for my sins, knowing He has given me a way to return back to my Heavenly Father and to live with my family forever. The sacrifice of a mission seems so small, and I feel privileged to make that sacrifice. I want you to know that I have a testimony that God lives. That He sent his son Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the world, so that we might be able to return and live with our families and with our Heavenly Father forever. I know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Because of that knowledge just like in the Bible, Heavenly Father has once again sent us prophets. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet, that he restored Christs church and received the priesthood power. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon, and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. And I know that because I have read every single page of the book, and I have prayed and received a confirmation confirmation by the Holy Ghost. I know that today we have a modern-day prophet Thomas S. Monson. I know that Jesus Christ stands at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that God loves us, and has given us a way to be with our families forever through the sealing power that is found in the temples. There is nothing that can take away my testimony of these things, because I know God answers prayers and confirms truth through the Holy Ghost. I invite each of you to read the Book of Mormon, to come worship with us, and to pray to know if these things are true. Your life will blessed and changed for the better, and you will feel closer to your Savior, and Father in Heaven. #mission #mormon
