This week, the Creative Arts School Aged Club is all about Latin America! Yesterday, we had an introduction to the countries that make up Latin America! Well be learning about their customs and traditions this week! Yesterday, we worked on our Mola designs. This technique comes from Panama! We showed the children the Cuna Indian folk art and learned that Mola was the Cuna Indian word for Blouse! This term also describes detailed textile art or patterned designs! Often, designs feature animals and bright colors and patterns. They can be found on clothing, pillows, quilts and many other textiles! These designs use the same original pattern, but go from smallest to largest in design.
