This week, the annual Ambassadors Conference is taking place in and around our Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Laurent Stokvis is in the Netherlands for a 4-day programme, revolving around the theme Diplomacy in a Turbulent World. Several key developments in the past year have shown the importance of diplomacy in areas such as security, welfare and justice. Also in Serbia: the Netherlands Embassy played a key role last year in bringing in water expertise, after areas around Obrenovac were hit by the flooding of the Sava river. Dutch companies are now looking together with the Serbian Flood Affected Areas Assistence and Rehabilitation Office (SFAAARO) and local authorities at contingency plans for flood protection, water treatment and strengthening the judicial framework of water management.
