This week we are looking at forgiveness! Forgiveness is a hard pill to swallow, indeed. Peters desire is to know how many times. Jesus throws out some sevens because its hard to keep count, try it one day. Before you reach seventy you will have forgotten and have to start over. Christians (some) think theres justifiable hatred. Depending on the offense committed one has a right to hate one who caused the offense. Is there really justifiable redemption? I watched a newsreel yesterday of a family who lost their daughter three years ago. The family is seeking the death penalty of the persons accused of the murder. Their daughters name is on the marquee of a church where the family attends and I am assuming are members. The marquee states: Prayers for.... But, who is it that really needs prayers? I would think a person(s) so cruel as to take an individuals life would need prayer! At times our hurt and pain gives us excuses for acting like the villain instead of the victim. Millions of things happen in a day that I could hate. However, I realize that if I hated people like Zimmerman, The KKK, Daren Wilson, the people that bombed the three little black girls in 1963 sitting in Sunday School, the persons(s) who killed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and on and on----I would be eaten alive! I wouldnt be able to survive! That is just public but what about the personal stuff??? I dont want the villains mentality, and I am not going to ascertain the victims mentality. We have work to do. Come on Sunday to Beech Grove UMC and see how we count up our hurts. I found an excellent website on forgiveness. I am still in Matthew and after reading about the number of 7s How sweet it is to be loved by Jesus!
