This week we call on our members and friends of the club to slow - TopicsExpress

This week we call on our members and friends of the club to slow down, take a moment to quietly reflect on two sad anniversaries for #Ukraine and its people. >> on Nov 21, exactly a year ago, no more than a hundred people, mostly students, came out onto the Independence Square in Kyiv in Ukraine to protest then-in-power Ukrainian governments decision to withdraw from talks and to refuse signing the Association Agreement with the European Union. After being violently broken up by brutal riot police, this small gathering of like-minded people grew into multi million protest rallies, toppling of the regime of President Yanukovych and unfortunately also resulted in over a hundred of innocent deaths of those often referred to as The Heavenly Hundred. While started as a pro-EU rally, the 2013-2014 ЄвроМайдан – EuroMaydan uprising became about so much more and is often referred to as #RevolutionOfDignity. Among the people on the streets of Kyiv there were students, teachers, engineers, professors with PhDs, housewives, doctors, lawyers and pensioners, all of them united in their desire to see happy and prosperous Ukraine! Many of the EuroMaidan volunteers went on to volunteer in Ukrainian army, helping protect the countrys borders and people from the Russian aggression in the South and East of Ukraine. Some of them have lost their battle, and some are still there, fighting for themselves, their families, their country, their freedom!. We ask you to remember them in your thoughts and prayers! >> on November 22, the world will remember those poor innocent souls, who perished during the 1932-1933 Great Famine known as #Holodomor . The famine was artificially orchestrated by communist leaders of the Soviet Union, and personally by Joseph Stalin, in order to not only support forceful and aggressive industrialization, but to also destroy the backbone of Ukrainian culture and national identity. We ask you to remember those innocent souls in your thoughts and prayers! A special rememberence-panekhyda service will be held at the Protection of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church (details on the time and date will be posted later)
