This week we continue our people stories with Charlie who brightens up the market with his ultra-fresh vegetables every week while they are in season. His brother James started a horticultural enterprise next to his suckling herd on the family farm in KIlcummin in 2000 and Charlie and their sister Eileen have been working alongside him whenever they could. They are people who know the value of attention to detail and hard work from long term experience and their dedication to the organic cause shows in the incredibly tasty and absolutely magnificent looking vegetables and potatoes they produce. As one of our customers said: Their Orla potatoes are slightly waxy when they are very new (lovely for salads), but they develop into a beautiful potato that turns into a ball of flour when you boil them! Charlie and his family are out early in the morning trying to gather the vegetables as close to market time as possible and as he says they were still alive and growing when the customers were having their first cup of tea in the morning! They do grow wheat grass as well which as most people know is extreme healthy to juice and consume every day.
