This week we were all touched to receive a very special gift from a remarkable young lady. 11 year old Emma and her mom had just come home from a trip to find that their 15 year old cat “Snicklefritz” was very sick. They rushed him to Animal Emergency & Trauma that night. Along with other serious concerns, Snicklefritz had a very low temperature, so the nurse quickly wrapped him in a fleece blanket and some warm water bottles. Sadly, dear Snicklefritz was suffering and his owners made the decision to let him pass peacefully. About 1 week later, Emma and her mom stopped by the hospital to give us a gift. Emma had taken her own money to the fabric store and purchased several yards of fleece. One pattern was leopard print and the other was brown with white paw prints, just like the one that had been used for her kitty. She then went home and sewed them into little blankets. When she gave them to us she explained that she wanted other kitties to get a nice, warm blanket like the one her kitty was given. So thanks to Emma, when a cat needs a warm blanket to help them feel better, there will be a very special one waiting. To prove the point, I set up her blankets to take a photo, and within minutes our resident cat Albert decided they work purrfectly.
