This week, while most of us are enjoying turkey, family, and football, Coach Andrew Parson will be in Tulsa Oklahoma talking to dozens of high school bike racers about all things Lindsey Wilson College and Cycling. He wont be at home with his new bride, nor at mom and dads for a family dinner. He will spend 14 hours in an unheated arena for several days including Thursday. He wasnt told to give up his holiday and drive to Oklahoma. He wasnt even asked to. But he is going. He is going because he knows that few if any of his peers from other colleges will make the same sacrifice. He is going because he knows its an opportunity to make a significant and positive impact on his program. He is going because he is passionate about his program and his college. Few people know the level of personal sacrifice it sometimes takes to do this job. But I do, for this is the first time in 6 years I am not making this trip. On Thursday, one of the people I will be thankful for, will be standing on a concrete floor, in an unheated and dusty arena, in Tulsa Oklahoma, a long, long way from his new bride, his family, and home. -David Grigsby.
