This weekend, I saw an advertisement for some fast food passing itself off as Tuscan, and I thought, Has anyone done a cosplay thats a cross between a Condottiero and a Sand Person and called it a Tuscan Raider? I asked Tom if he thought this would be as brilliant an idea as I thought it would be. He pointed out that most people dont call the Sand People Tusken Raiders. In fact, the name Tusken Raiders isnt even mentioned in the original Star Wars trilogy, so I must have gotten that from one of the comic books when I was a kid; I dont know where else I would have gotten that term. I *then* learned that Tusken Raiders are a sub-set of Sand People; the term applies specifically to the participants in a raid on Fort Tusken. Still, though, I think if someone assembled a Condottiero suit and topped it off with a Sand People head, you could get a laugh out of that at at least one convention. Youd probably only just get one laugh, though. #nerdconcerns
