This weekend has 3 trips! Migration is in full swing and Blue-footed Boobies are showing up all over the coast. It looks like a beautiful weekend. Saturday, September 21, 7am Point Reyes for Vagrants Leader: Mark Cudney, 987-2422 mcudney@aol Join Mark on this annual trip to the coast for rare fall migrants. With fall migration in full swing, who knows what will appear. The geography of Point Reyes Peninsula makes it a magnet for warblers and shorebirds migrating south. Bring lunch and liquids for a full day of birding. Meet Mark at the Park and Ride in West Sacramento. From Sacramento, take the West Capitol Ave Exit #81; turn left at the light and then left again into the Park and Ride lot. Saturday, September 21, 10:30am Family Friendly Nature Walk Effie Yeaw Nature Center, Ancil Hoffman Park sacnaturecenter.net Everyone is welcome to this joint Effie Yeaw/Sacramento Audubon nature and birding walk. Meet in front of the Nature Center in Ancil Hoffman County Park, at California Avenue and Tarshes Drive. There is a $5 entrance fee to the park, or you can use your Parkway Pass or Nature Center membership card. Sunday, September 22, 7am Fall Migration “Wild Card” Leaders: Scott Hoppe 835-8471 [email protected] Dan Tankersley, 662-1290 dtankers@winfirst Join Scott and Dan in pursuit of fall migrants. But this trip has a twist: the destinations will be a mystery until the day of the trip. Scott and Dan will be watching the posts for rarities, and scouting locations. Depending on where the birding has been best recently, the agenda might likely include coastal or Bay Area locations, or something more local. So be prepared for a fun and adventurous full day in the field. Bring a lunch, plenty of water, dress for possible cooler coastal weather and be prepared for a fair amount of easy to moderate hiking. Meet at the Park and Ride off I-80 in West Sacramento. From Sacramento, take the West Capitol Ave. Exit #81; turn left at the light and then left again into the Park and Ride lot.
