This weekend past was probably the first glimpse Ive had into really feeling the pain of my child and not being able to do anything about it except to be there. My little introvert was so excited to attend a birthday party for her friend but was confronted by lots of people she didnt know, loud, dark, crowded, confusing. She was so overwhelmed and overstimulated in a world that caters to extraverts. She wanted to stay and tried her best to talk to her friend or get involved. In the end, she couldnt and just clung to me, cried some, felt a little sick (not too sick for cake and root beer floats!) She got through it like she will so many other things. It was much easier when all is had to do was wrap her in a blanket and rock her.
