This weekend sees Carnarvon Speedway host the annual Northwest - TopicsExpress

This weekend sees Carnarvon Speedway host the annual Northwest Championships proudly supported by Carnarvon IGA. The meeting also sees the running of the first round of the Speedway Sedan Digest Gold Cup Street Stock Series (known as Stocksville) proudly supported by Northwest Auto and the Annual Sprintcar Perpetual proudly supported by Norwest Refrigeration. A quality field has assembled to tackle both the respective events as part of the Northwest Championships. The Street Stocks have some formidable entrants this weekend with Dale Cockman (a previous SSD series winner) heading the list of visiting drivers. Dale brings with him Chris Vanzetti (last year’s SSD series winner) and Dave Watson from the Moora club who’s had some strong results during the 2013/14 summer season. Jack Barnwell is making the long trip from Kalgoorlie to compete as is Andrew Andreoli who is trekking from Top Price this weekend. Heading the local contingent is Damon Lyall. Damon has been extremely fast in his last few outings but has run into some bad luck whilst in a strong position. No doubt Damon is keen to put in a strong performance this weekend as will Jace Kempton who’s been in a rocket ship lately. Jace was dominant in the recent Production Perpetual winning the event comfortably. The form driver is keen to add the NW Championships to his list of achievements this weekend and will be a tough competitor to beat this weekend. Limited Sprintcars are coming to Carnarvon Speedway in force with 15 Winged Warriors looking to grab the gold this weekend. 5 drivers in the field are travelling from Geraldton to compete whilst Mathew Farrell is coming from Karratha and Mick Burnett is trekking from Moora. Local drivers have shown some great form in the last few meetings here at Carnarvon with Jim Andreoli currently right on the pace. Last weekend Andreoli set the fastest time of the night with a 13.27 second lap. Both Bumbak brothers are also on the pace and will be looking to leave the field in their wake this weekend as will Burke Holla who’s also been very strong so far this season. Super Sedans, 410 Sprintcars and Production Sedans will also be appearing this weekend so make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action when the green flag drops beginning this Saturday night. The Peter Brock Merchandise Truck will be at Carnarvon Speedway this long weekend for the Norwest Champs both Saturday & Sunday. The Carnarvon Speedway Club wish to thank Mitre 10 and Bumbaks Preserves and Ice Creams for their support of the North West Championships this weekend.
