This weekend some Mile 27 runners took to the Melbourne Marathon - TopicsExpress

This weekend some Mile 27 runners took to the Melbourne Marathon with great results: Charlie Hew is getting faster as he gets older knocking off another 2 minutes from his PB marathon time Matt Sherlock backed up from the CCC to run a massive PB Chloe McLeod also ran a big PB and Grace Bailey had a fantastic race going well under her expected time. At the Washpool 50k in the far north of NSW Jodie Oborne continued her fantastic year with a win and big course record. Adrian Garnett fought off a pre race niggle to finish an impressive 7th overall and Heidi Hoffman, although she struggled a bit with the heat, showed her mental toughness and finished 25km. Karen Summerville battled some bad blisters, and a few niggles that were so bad she had planned how to get home from a number of points along the way, to finish the Royal Parks 50k Ultra in London. The only thing she didnt plan was how to get home from the finish as she didnt think shed make it! A great example of heart over head. And on a different note; sometimes race results arent the best indication of progress. I received this comment from a client this week: but I sensed today that I have really let go of the time thing. I run because it gives me joy. If it takes me longer than the average Joe to complete a set course, so be it. Finding that joy of running which is independent of speed and time is just as big an achievement as any race result. It shows true strength of character to let go of ego and do something on your own terms, for the pure enjoyment of it. Well done to all.
