This weekend was hard for Little Dude. He had to make a very tough decision. We let him make it & we support him 100%. He quit football for the rest of this season. He reached his limit of what he could tolerate. Being pushed aside & bullied by his coach had just gotten intolerable. He wanted to play so much but spent the bulk of each game on the sidelines. The coach basically would smirk or have a smart ass answer if Eric tried to talk to him like when Little Dude got hurt because the coach refused to stop one of the players in regards to illegal blocks to the back...his response was they were going to do it anyway & its not penalized.... interesting that almost every single game we heard that call against one of the teams. I posted previously when Little Dude got hurt & it pissed off the commissioner...league president...whatever he calls himself. Someone (& I have a good idea who--please send this one too!) sent him screen shots of it. So basically he punished or rather allowed the coach to punish my son by taking away his playing time. When confronted about the time Little Dude got to play, he blames my son for not putting forth the effort EVERY time hes on the field and then says the coach is ONLY required to play each player 5 plays. I get the basis for the rule and would understand IF the team had more 22 players. BUT this team has 16-18 players total. So while my son & another player spent 90% or more of their game time on the sidelines, the bulk of the team played 90% of the time. By the 2nd game of the season, Little Dude was asking why he bothers to show up. He felt like a tackling dummy or a hitting dummy & not part of the team. During practice, the bulk of his time was spent time on the opposite side of what they were working on...if they were working on an offensive play, then the coach would have him being the defense. When they worked on defense, he was put to acting as offense. Other times, he was sent to stand on the sidelines. Also by the 2nd game, a player joined the team late & one of his teammates told Little Dude then he might as well quit since this new player got his spot. This league president/commissioner/whatever..has this bizarre ego-centric, power trip going on about being elected to this position for 17 years. YES, he did say it to me when we argued on the sidelines at the game on September 6...AND he didnt like my response that he had been elected by his good-ole-boys network. Funny thing about those elections for him & the coaches.....they take place at the meeting... when Little Dude played last year & there were issues with the coach trying to coach several years ahead of their abilities, we & several other parents asked how the coaches were chosen....theyre voted on...ok when?...at the meeting...ok, what meeting?...isnt the weather nice today? Thats the response we got for over a year about these elections. BUT after Eric Grubaugh at some point & then I during this shouting match pointed out how were treated like outsiders, the meeting was finally announced on the following Monday at a mandatory parents meeting. It was during that meeting that I got blasted (although I wasnt there) for my facebook post when LIttle Dude got hurt....the thing is I did NOT name the team, I did NOT name the coach, I did NOT name the commissioner...so if you OUT yourself...most of my friends actually dont know exactly where we live. But back to the meeting, it seems the meeting is the quarterbacks club & anyone can join...its only $5. AND according to parents, the elections are very much swayed by friends of whoever is wanting to get elected. They get their buddies to join & show up to vote for them. Ok....IF you have to BRING your friends to get elected--its BECAUSE the parents do NOT want you. By the way....I hope each & every parent, player, cheerleader & anyone else associated with the program looks at those REALLY nice picnic tables & think about how horribly my child was treated. In case anyone doesnt know, the program had some extra money that was set aside to buy cheer bows. BUT since I made each & every cheerleader a personalized, custom cheer bow, the program did not have to spend that allotted money & were able to purchase those tables.
