This weeks Brechiner has printed my response to a letter from a Better Together supporter in last weeks edition. Just in case folk outside Brechin and district might be interested, here it is : Dear Sir, What a load of guff from professional politician Martyn Geddes! He and his Tory Together pals approach the referendum as if it were an election. It isnt. There are no candidates. There is only a question : Should Scotland be an independent country? Tory Together tries to pretend the YES Campaign is just the SNP. Yet that same issue of the Brechiner carried a letter from Rab Alexander of Labour for Independence; while we in Radical Independence (Angus) are critical of both the SNP and the Labour Party. But though Im not a supporter of the SNP, though Im highly critical of them in many ways, I think Martyn Geddess criticism of them is nonsense. Okay, so Baron George Gideon Osborne of Ballentaylor and Ballylemon said we cant use the pound. Okay, so Ed Balls agreed, with his eyes popping out of his head in full primate threat mode. Neither Nicola nor Alex believe them - and neither do I. They are bluffing. Personally, I couldnt care less. My preferred option is we continue to use the pound, without a formal agreement. Millions of people throughout the world do this, and theres not a damn thing Westminster can do about it. And OF COURSE my plan A is Salmonds plan B. Anybody who has been paying attention will have heard him say, repeatedly, in an independent Scotland, we will be using the pound. Yours etc, Dave Coull Inglis Court Edzell
