This weeks #IOTW (Image of the week) goes out to our member, Usman Maqsood! This is a fantastic focused and visually appealing image. Congrats Usman for this week. This is Northwestern portion of Moon and Mare Imbrium dominates this, it is the distinctive semi-circle known as Sinus Iridum (the so-called Bay Of Rainbows,) that captures the eye. Rimmed by the Montes Jura chain and keeping company with craters Mairan, Sharp, Bianchini and Maupertuis, Iridium is one of the Moons signature formations. To the north is sweeping Mare Frigoris, with Sinus Roris to the west and Oceanus Procellarum to the southwest. Just look at the color difference in Mare imbrium just beside the Sinus Iridum that region is also called Mascon ( mass concentration (or mascon) is a region of a planet or moons crust that contains a large positive gravitational anomaly)
