This weeks NFL Power Rankings: #Dan 1 Chiefs (8-0, same rank as last week): There have been 20 teams to start the season 8-0 in the Super Bowl era and all 20 of them made the playoffs. Eight went on to win the Super Bowl. 2. Seahawks (7-1, same rank): The Seahawks need a quick boost to their offense after putting up just 139 yards on Monday night. Oh, hello, Percy Harvin. 3. Broncos (7-1, same rank): The Broncos have scored 343 points so far this season (the most ever for a team after eight weeks) but they looked shaky for the second week in a row. 4. Colts (5-2, same rank): Will the Colts make another move before the trade deadline to replace Reggie Wayne, who is lost for the season? 5. Saints (6-1, same rank): Drew Brees has thrown five or more touchdown passes in eight career games, which puts him one game ahead of Peyton Manning for most in NFL history. 6. 49ers (6-2, same rank): The 49ers scored a season-high 42 points on Sunday and have scored 31 or more in each of their last five games. Its no coincidence that they are on a five-game winning streak. 7. Bengals (6-2, improved 1 spot): The Bengals hold a 2.5-game lead in the AFC North -- currently the widest margin for any division leader in the NFL. 8. Packers (5-2, dropped 1 spot): The Packers possessed the ball for almost 41 minutes against the Vikings on Sunday night, the third-highest time of possession in the NFL this season. 9. Patriots (6-2, same rank): Tom Brady had season-lows in both completions and yards and posted a passer rating under 75 for the fourth straight game, but good teams find a way to win. 10. Lions (5-3, improved 2 spots): Calvin Johnson is a MAN. 11. Cowboys (4-4, dropped 1 spot): When you play the Lions, you have to either stop Calvin Johnson or Reggie Bush to have a chance. The Cowboys did neither, surrendering a franchise-worst 623 yards. 12. Chargers (4-3, dropped 1 spot): The Chargers are putting up 402.9 yards per game this season with Vincent Brown, Eddie Royal and a rookie as their starting wide receivers. Kudos to Philip Rivers, Mike McCoy, and Ken Whisenhunt. 13. Bears (4-3, same rank): The Bears are coming off a Week 7 loss to the Redskins and now have to travel to Green Bay with a backup QB. Even after a bye week, that is a tough draw. 14. Panthers (4-3, improved 8 spots): The Panthers are now over .500 for the first time since 2008 and have won eight of their last 11. Thats the sixth-best winning percentage during that span. 15. Titans (3-4, same rank): The Titans will travel to St. Louis after their Week 8 bye. 16. Jets (4-4, dropped 2 spots): The Jets have yet to win two in a row this season, but they have avoided losing two in a row, as well. That may change with New Orleans coming to town this week. 17. Cardinals (4-4, improved 9 spots): After previously drafting Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams and then signing Rashard Mendenhall, the Cardinals may have finally found their franchise running back in rookie Andre Ellington. 18. Bills (3-5, dropped 2 spots): For a team that is playing with its third-string QB, the Bills are fighting like dogs and are going to be a tough out down the stretch. 19. Ravens (3-4, dropped 2 spots): The Ravens are averaging just 74 rush yards per game and former Cardinals running back Beanie Wells tore his Achilles in a tryout last week. Its not good to be a running back in Baltimore right now. 20. Redskins (2-5, improved 4 spots): Kirk Cousins should be a starting QB in this league. 21. Dolphins (3-4, dropped 3 spots): Ryan Tannehill attempted a career-high 42 passes, but finished with just 192 passing yards, his lowest total of the season. Thats not good. 22. Texans (2-5, dropped 3 spots): Matt Schaub appears to be healthy enough to play on Sunday, but instead the Texans have announced Case Keenum as the starter against the Colts. Is this the beginning of the end for Schaub in Houston? 23. Falcons (2-5, same rank): The Falcons have just 45 combined rushing yards in the last two games. They ran for 27 on Sunday and just 18 against Tampa Bay in Week 7. 24. Raiders (3-4, improved 4 spots): The Raiders started last year with a 3-4 record as well, but they won only once more and finished 4-12. 25. Giants (2-6, imroved 4 spots): The Giants didnt score a touchdown in their 15-7 win over the Eagles on Sunday, but they didnt turn the ball over either and sometimes that is enough. 26. Eagles (3-5, dropped 5 spots): Heading into Week 7, a Chip Kelly team had never scored fewer than eight points in a game. They have just 10 points combined in the last two. 27. Rams (3-5, same rank): Somebody block Robert Quinn! 28. Browns (3-5, dropped 3 spots): Jason Campbells performance on Sunday makes you wonder why they didnt turn to him sooner. Even in a loss, he posted the best passer rating of any Browns QB this season and threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns against the NFLs best defense. 29. Steelers (2-5, dropped 9 spots): Big Ben is being sacked at a record pace and this offense just looks completely out of sync. However, the defense did come up with three takeaways, one more than the first six games combined. 30. Vikings (1-6, same rank): There were times on Sunday night when Christian Ponder dropped back with excellent footwork, stood tall in the pocket and stepped into his throw like a capable starting QB in this league, but why cant he do that more consistently? 31. Jaguars (0-8, same rank): The Jaguars have scored a measly 10.8 points per game this season while allowing 33 points per game. Those numbers are significantly worse than the winless 2008 Lions. 32. Buccaneers (0-7, same rank): The Bucs have lost seven straight home games -- the longest streak since they lost the first 13 home games in franchise history.
