This weeks SHOWCASED KITTY IS PIPPEN This is Pippen, or Pippy for short. He is a very special boy. Hes the king of the house so to speak, for he is the oldest of the all the fur babies. He had a super hard start at life. He was born while his kitty momma was being chased and he was dropped on the ice (It was February and thats one of the most brutally cold months of the winter here in Canada). My daughter saw this happen, and she called me to take a look. I went out and found him on the icy ground still in the birth sack. I rushed him inside, and had to cut his umbilical cord and clean the birth sack off of him. He was so cold he wasnt moving but I could see him just barely breathing. My gramma (Nammie), being a nurse, knew he needed to be warmed up. We wrapped him up in a piece of soft flannel and my gramma tucked him into her bossom and she kept him there and sang to him softly while we ran to the store to get kitten formula and bottles etc. for him. By the time we got back he was squawking up a storm and was quite energetic and hungry. We fed Pippy his first bottle which he almost finished completely, and my wife even got him to burp. My wife is really the only momma Pippy has ever known. She bottle fed him and took care of him like his momma would have done. She helped to go to the bathroom and cuddled him up lots at night. Now, 15 years later if something bugs him he goes right for her to snuggle up with and to be comforted. Since Pippen has never known anything except for his human momma and papa, he is completely convinced that hes no different from his two legged brother and sisters. Pippy still loves his momma and papa cuddles and he always takes care of any additions we get to our family.
