This weeks Sister Store Spotlight is on Soliloquy, a bridal boutique based out of Herndon, Virgnia. We caught up with the owner, Miriam Liggett (pictured here with daughter Sydnie) , to talk about about why she chose the bridal industry and more! 1.How long have you been in business? Soliloquy Bridal Couture opened in November 2011 to offer a luxury bridal shopping experience in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. Area. The past 2 and 1/2 years have been fabulous. We have met so many amazing brides and their families. 2.Why did you choose the bridal industry? I left a successful career as a corporate operations vice president to utilize my skills and talents for my own endeavor. After researching and considering my next move, I realized that I would have to truly be passionate about whatever I chose to do next. I have always loved bridal – the entire aspect of the wedding day and all it entails. Additionally, my extensive experience and leadership in customer service led me to consider the bridal gown process. I wanted to be on the front lines with the customer to support one of the most important decisions in a wedding. It is so rewarding to see a bride choose her statement, her soliloquy. And then it’s always bittersweet at the final fitting when they are ready to leave for the wedding. We love our clients and hate to see them go. 3.Where did you meet your husband? I met Tony on the first day of college at the University of Georgia. We were introduced by a hometown friend who was his fraternity brother. I was 17 but he assumed since I was in college that I was at least 18 or 19. He was 21 and starting his senior year. We married five years later after he graduated and became an officer in the Air Force and after I graduated and began a job as a television news reporter. 4.What is your favorite Heidi Elnora gown? Heidi is so extremely gifted and talented that every time I think I have a favorite, she designs something else I love. My current favorite is the one I would have selected if it were available when I was getting married, the Bella Odette. 5.What is your favorite moment with the bride? During first appointments, brides may be still in shock or just giddy from the prospect of planning a wedding and shopping for a gown. I love the transformation I see from the initial appointment to the final moments when she realizes that this is it. Sometimes, I will seize the moment as she is staring at herself in the mirror and say, “You’re getting married!” I love how they smile and realize that it is indeed happening. 6.What is the one thing you can’t live without? Oh that’s easy. POPCORN. 7.If there was a movie about you, who would play you and why? Oprah! And there would be a scene in the movie where I would be in front of our group of brides and shout, “You get a dress. You get a dress and you get a dress.” ☺ She truly is an inspirational woman and she has a diverse fan base. I like that about her. 8.What makes your store different from the rest? Our clients tell us that we offer a consistent experience each time they are in the boutique. Recently several of them have said they feel safe and peaceful when they are here. That melts our hearts and keeps us focused on operational excellence at every touch point. 9.If you could sum the experience that your brides have with you in a word what would it be? Sincere. Check back every Monday to learn more about stores that carry heidi elnora! #heidielnora Soliloquy Bridal Couture #heidibrides #bridebydesign
