This weeks episode takes us even deeper into the Lower Keys for a series of under-rated, seldom dived sites! After reaching Mile Marker 10.8 (10.8 miles from Key West), we take a left turn onto Boca Chica Road to launch at Geiger Key Marina. The first target, PELICAN SHOAL LIGHT TOWER 26, an interesting fish haven in 20 of water. Next, skip two miles west to PELICAN SHOAL, with 4 mooring buoys in 25 of water marked by a huge sand spit. Then, ease a little over a mile to the WSW to the beautiful (unmarked on the NOAA Chart) SPECULATOR SHOAL in 25 of water. One mile to the WSW is EASTERN SAMBO, marked by the unlit red dayshape 28 in about 25 of gin clear water. About 1/2 mile to the WSW is MIDDLE SAMBO, another seldom-dived site in 20-25 of water, clouded by fish. About two miles to the west, top off the day with a dive on WESTERN SAMBO, a crowded reef with over 30 mooring buoys to accommodate the many Key West dive boats that visit this eastern-most Key West dive site!
